JOB POSTING: Tour Guide (bilingual)

Ottawa Walking Tours is hiring Bilingual Tour Guides (English/French) to join us for the 2026 season! We need enthusiastic, professional guides who are excellent communicators and thrive on variety. You’ll be leading engaging private walking tours downtown, delivering narrative on local bus tours, managing visiting school groups on their overnight stay, and leading exciting multi-day bus trips to destinations like Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City.

This is a high-energy, dynamic role. You are a master storyteller and operational leader. We require guides who are highly adaptable, possess a polished demeanor, and can expertly shift their focus to ensure every guest—from a high-profile private booking to a busload of students—has a safe, unforgettable, and highly educational experience.  Full training is provided.

Key Requirements & Skills:

  • Student Group Management: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large student groups (ages 14+) with a calm, professional demeanor. Experience in educational travel, youth programming, or teaching is highly valued.
  • Bilingual Fluency (French/English): Fluency is required for delivering tours in both official languages. Additional languages are an asset.
  • Adaptability: The ability to customize tours, the tour narrative and route based on client interests.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: you can hype up your own tours, ask for donations and be on time with your invoices.
  • Historical Knowledge: Passion for Canadian history and a desire to share it with others.

This is an excellent opportunity for a flexible, part time, seasonal commitment. Work begins in April, ramps up significantly in the summer and fall months, and tapers off in October. We offer pay above the minimum wage, plus tips.
